Connecting on a personal level to each other and the word of God is what the
small groups are all about. We use a variety of study outlines from diving deep into books like Proverbs, Psalms or studying
12 different images and appearances of Jesus during His earthly ministry.
Come be a part of this journey, get to
know others in the the community, get to know more about the Bible and journey into exploring what God wants you to be.
In addition to study and discussion, each group regularly goes out into the community to serve. We also have fellowship
events together like dinners, bowling and whatever the group's personality calls them to.
EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE, TEMPTATION, COMPROMISE, SECRETS, DEATH
This
Study Finished April 6th but you can check out the study guides by clicking on one of the 6 sessions below.
Everyone - no person can escape sin.
Everywhere - there is no place to escape from sin
Compromise - Evil's primary tool
Temptation - Large and Small, we face them all.
Secrets - Sin's warning sign
Death - Sin's ultimate goal
Brainstorming from our first session led us to define sin as: Death,
Ugly, Separation, Trouble, Expensive/Costly, Embarassing, Selfish, Lonley, Deception, Slavery, Evil, Cancerous, Messed Up,
Hurtful, Painful, Sorrowful, Unholy, Deliberate, Tempting, Unconcious, Criminal, Hateful, Immoral, Sacrificial, Human, Spiteful,
Missery...
If you saw something on the shelf at a store where the above words were used to describe
the product, would you buy it? Obviously not - yet we return to Sin which is all the things above. Why? Because there
are 2 strikes against us. 1. Our basic nature is sinful and 2. There is an evil force in the world taking advantage of that
nature.
Sin impacts everyone - no one is exempt. All are tempted by satan - even Jesus. Sin is everywhere - even
in the church. Compromise and secrets are valued by Satan and are his tools. Sin simply leads to Death and separation from
Jesus.
However, all is not lost - Jesus died on the cross and we have an open invitation to the cross - where
the crimson river of His blood flows even still today - to be healed completely in His name free and clear.
Even
though sin's ultimate goal is death, our Lord has ransomed us from sin's clutches and has overcome death for all of
us. Thanks be to God who loved us so much, He gave His only Son to save us.

for good vs evil, teamwork, ills of adoration for pop-culture icons and simply refusing to accept defeat. Groundhog
Day for making life count, taking responsibility for actions and earning how to truly love others instead
of yourself.
Galaxy Quest - Movie on 1/12/2010. Discussion 1/19/2010.

ROMANS- Faith On Fire (ended 12/2009) - In-Depth 12 weeks on Paul's challenges to
the church in Rome and celebration of their faithfulness in light of Roman society.Couple of the weeks' big idea: Faith
is having confidence that God is still working on me: Real faith brings peace with God and others: We express our love for
God by sacrifically loving others.
JAMES
- Half brother of Jesus. Wow - what a disciple. Learned a lot of pracitical stuff about being a disciple for Christ and member
of a Christ-Following community. One of my favorites - James 1: 19 "Lead with your
ears, follow up with your tongue, and let anger straggle along in the rear. God's righteousness doesn't grow from
human anger."
12 sightings of Jesus
during his ministry. These sightings include the Healer, Forgiver, Challenger....THE
ONE WHO LOVES COMPLETELY! We explored who Jesus is and how He is alive today
in our lives.
Book of Pslams
We saw examples of radical faith, some people who were really
mad at God but relied on him fully, cried out to God when things got bad, sang God's praises in good and bad situations?
We were inspired by these examples of radical faith and followership. Our study of the psalms looked into the writers,
the emotion and the underlying love of God. We all need a Faith Like that.
6 week series began on April 13 2010.
